Common Grace

Assisting Noble County residents who are ready to move beyond their current circumstances to a place of wholeness financially, relationally and spiritually.

YOU MUST BE A RESIDENT OF NOBLE COUNTY, INDIANA TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR SERVICES.

Common Grace is open by appointment only.

Please call our office when you arrive and we will invite you inside as soon as we are ready for your appointment. This allows you more privacy for your application and is a safety measure for our team.

How We Can Assist You

Rent

Bring your 10-day notice to quit or eviction notice from your landlord.

The notice or letter must include:

  • Your name and address

  • Amount of late rent

  • Amount of late fees

  • The date your rent is due

  • Your landlord's address, email address and phone number.

If your landlord has not already submitted a W-9 to us, they MUST do so before we are able to consider assistance for rent.

Utilities

Bring the following:

  • Your disconnect notice

  • Your MOST RECENT full bill. This may be faxed to us upon request.

  • NOTE: If you receive your bill electronically, bring a printout of your bill, or email it to info@commongraceministries.org before your appointment.

Please make an appointment as soon as you receive the disconnect notice, because it takes time to process your request with the utility company.

If the bill is not in your name, we will need a Utility Affidavit to verify that the bill is your responsibility to pay. Please bring your landlord’s phone number, address and email address with you.

General Guidance

When you don’t know where to turn or what to do next, let us help you figure that out.

  • No pre-planning or specific request is required to seek out expert guidance.

  • Our team will walk you through an application that helps us understand your situation, what’s causing it, and the resources you already have, so we can figure out how to best help you.

  • Our team will help you connect to partners and resources to help you overcome the hurdles by overcoming what’s causing them.

  • We can walk with you through goal-setting in our Yes! I Can! Plan so that you can put your wins on our celebration wall like many others have done. You can do this! We can help!

Identification & Vital Document Restoration

  • We will look at all of the documents you have on hand for each household member, both adults and minors.

  • We will help you identify the documents you will need and may be able to help you obtain them.

  • We can sometimes pay for birth certificates and other documents if the provider allows us to mail a check.

  • We may help pay for your license once we have all of the necessary documents in hand. We are required to see all of the necessary documentation to update your identification before we are able to give you the funds and send you to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) as per our agreement with the BMV.

How it Works

Make an Appointment

Call (260) 349-1942 to make an appointment to complete an application. Plan to bring a current photo identification (ID) - required for all adults, ages 18 and older.

For children under the age of 18, you must provide one of the following:

  • Birth Certificate

  • Social Security Card

  • Passport

  • Legal Documents

  • Medicaid card with the individual’s name

  • School Social Worker letter stating the child is in the household

What to Expect at Your Appointment

When you arrive, call to let the team know you have arrived. You will be invited inside as soon as they is ready for you. Our team will complete an application with you. We will discuss:

  • 30 days of income

  • 30 days of expenses

  • 5 years of work history, for all adults in the household

  • The reason(s) or your need

You will be given a Where Does Your Money Go worksheet to be completed at home to work through and identify your actual expenses.

What Happens Next

After your appointment, you will need to call our Kendallville office at (260) 349-1942 the next business day to discuss whether or not we are able to assist you.

If we are able to assist, you may be given conditions for the assistance.  For example, you may be asked to pay part of your bill before we pay the remainder; or we may ask for clarification or further documentation from you.

Once you have satisfied your part of any conditions, you will need to call 260-349-1942 to make an appointment to return to our office to receive the check(s) will issue for any amount(s) Common Grace are able to provide in assistance.

You MUST complete your Where Does Your Money Go worksheet at home and bring it back when you come for the payout of your assistance. Failing to do this will result in delayed assistance/payouts.
